Job summary

EEA Consulting Engineers in Albuquerque seeks a Commissioning Project Manager to lead MEP commissioning across laboratories, higher education, healthcare, municipal and mission-critical facilities.

You will develop commissioning plans, manage tests and schedules, review designs, coordinate with owners, design teams and vendors, and ensure performance, reliability, and sustainability objectives while traveling up to 50% regionally.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Engineering, Construction, or related field; or completion of a 2-year technical certificate program with 5 years of field experience.
• Hands-on experience in HVAC or lighting controls, test and balance, commissioning, HVAC design, system start-up, or similar technical roles.
• Working knowledge of commissioning standards and guidelines (ASHRAE, NEBB, ACG).
• Understanding of commissioning processes (pre-functional inspections, start-up, functional testing).
• Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills across multidisciplinary teams and clients.
• Willingness to travel up to 50%.

Responsibilities

• Lead commissioning activities for MEP systems across complex facilities (labs, higher ed, healthcare, municipal, mission-critical).
• Manage commissioning from pre-design through post-occupancy with strategy, scope, and performance objectives.
• Develop and execute commissioning plans, schedules, and test procedures for HVAC and specialty systems.
• Monitor progress and provide status updates and documentation to internal and client teams.
• Support development of commissioning scopes, fee proposals, and execution strategies with senior leadership.
• Review drawings, specs, submittals to identify commissioning requirements and risks.
• Perform site inspections, readiness evaluations, and functional testing to verify installations.
• Analyze test results, troubleshoot issues, and recommend corrective actions.
• Collaborate with owners, architects/engineers, contractors, and equipment vendors.
• Support owner training, system documentation, and final commissioning reports.
• Ensure activities align with LEED/IECC and industry best practices.
