Job summary

Joliet Public Schools District 86 seeks a Mentor Principal/Administrative Substitute to support new principals with coaching, observation, and guidance. The role may substitute for building administration when needed.

Under supervision of the Assistant Superintendent of Human Resources, the mentor will ensure services align with district standards and provide leadership continuity across campuses.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Education.
• Illinois Professional Educator License with General Admin or Principal Endorsement.
• 5+ years of successful teaching experience.
• 5+ years of successful administrative experience.
• Position for retired personnel.
• Current Administrator Academy credit in ELIS.
• Knowledge of best practices, Common Core Standards, and the Framework for Teaching Evaluation Instrument.
• Knowledge of data analysis and its use to improve teaching and learning.

Responsibilities

• Assesses skills and needs of new principals to ensure mentoring support.
• Builds relationships with new principals for trust and collaboration.
• Coaches and assists new principals to improve instruction.
• Collaborates with Cabinet, mentors, and coordinators to identify professional support.
• Models professionalism at all times.
• Orients new principals to the mentoring program and objectives.
• Participates in meetings, trainings, and seminars to perform duties.
• Serves as substitute administrator in the absence of building administration.
• Maintains commitment to ongoing professional development.

Education

B.A. or M.S. in Education

Illinois Professional Educator License with General Administrative or Principal Endorsement

Five or more years of successful teaching experience

Five or more years of successful administrative experience

Position for retired personnel

Current Administrator Academy credit recorded in ELIS

Demonstrated knowledge of best practices, Common Core Standards, and The Framework for Teaching Evaluation Instrument

Demonstrated knowledge of data analysis to improve teaching and learning
