Position Information

General Information

8:00 am - 5:00 pm; Monday - Friday

Based on the established Early Educator Support (EES) Office Framework, approved by the
North Carolina State Board of Education (NCSBE), the purpose of this program is to manage
and expand the infrastructure for a statewide system of professional development and support
to early childhood educators, with or eligible for a North Carolina Birth-Kindergarten (B-K)
license, in nonpublic sites, thereby increasing local and state capacity to effectively provide
services to all eligible teachers. The program ensures that all aspects of the services
established under the EES Office Framework are delivered in the designated region of the state,
for eligible teachers in that region: those employed in nonpublic schools that hold, or are eligible
for, the NC B-K License (NC Pre-K, Developmental Day, Head Start, and Child Care). In order
to receive services, teachers must be enrolled with the Early Educator Support program. All
processes and procedures established by the policies of the NCSBE and DPI must be followed
and implemented.

The Mentor/Evaluator serves as a pivotal support figure for designated nonpublic early
childhood education lead teachers, specifically those holding or eligible for the NC B-K License.
Entrusted with the responsibility of upholding the highest standards of educational excellence,
this role ensures the promotion of developmentally appropriate practices within classrooms.
Utilizing the NC Educator Evaluation System (NCEES), the Mentor/Evaluator guarantees high
quality classroom instruction aligned with the NC Professional Teaching Standards. This
position is committed to delivering mentoring and evaluation services in adherence to the
guidelines and procedures set forth by the EES Office, always in accordance with the NCSBE
and DPI policies.

Performs other duties as assigned.

Applicants are required to hold a minimum of a BA/BS degree in early childhood education or a
related field. An advanced degree is preferred. Candidates must hold an NC Professional
Educator License in the area of B-K. Candidates need to have spent at least three years as a
lead teacher in an early childhood classroom and have experience with the NC teacher
education and licensure system. Candidates must also possess knowledge of and experience
with policies set by the State Board of Education (SBE) and the Department of Public Instruction
(DPI). Candidates must also demonstrate prior experience in training, mentoring, and evaluating
NC B-K licensed early childhood educators, either at the pre-service and/or in-service level.
