Job summary

The Harris Center for Mental Health and IDD is seeking a Mental Wellness Advocate and Care Specialist for the Emancipation Center's Independent Living team. You will collaborate with licensed nurses and treatment teams to provide direct care, promote safety, and support recovery in a trauma-informed setting.

Responsibilities include basic care, crisis intervention, documentation, and coordination with staff.

Qualifications

• Strong communication and interpersonal abilities.
• 1 year of direct care experience in psychiatric or behavioral healthcare preferred.
• Valid driver’s license required.

Responsibilities

• Promote a physically and emotionally safe environment with regular rounds and patient safety.
• Assist with basic patient care tasks including eating, bathing, dressing, and daily living skills.
• Provide behavioral emergency assistance and report safety concerns as needed.
• Monitor and document patient behavior in seclusion or under precautions.
• Perform delegated duties such as vital signs and specimen collection.
• Observe Standard Precautions to prevent infection and protect privacy.
• Communicate with staff to coordinate patient care between teams.
