Job summary

Mercy Medical Center in Aurora, IL is seeking a Mental Health Worker Inpatient for the night shift (7pm–7:30am). Under RN supervision, you will assist with daily living activities, support unit operations, and help maintain a safe environment while documenting patient care.

Requirements include a current CNA license or at least one year hospital mental health experience, BLS within 30 days, and familiarity with medical terminology.

Qualifications

• 1) Must have current and valid CNA license issued by the state. If not CNA, minimum of one year experience in hospital mental health setting.
• 2) BLS within 30 days of hire and maintain current.
• 3) One year prior mental health experience preferred.
• 4) Familiarity with medical and psychological terminology preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist licensed nursing staff under RN/charge RN in providing and documenting patient care and activities of daily living; support unit functions and maintain a safe, clean environment; communicate pertinent patient information to supervising RN; perform basic nursing care per Nursing Structure Standards and hospital policy.

Responsibilities

Mental Health Worker Inpatient: Under the direction and supervision of the RN, LVN or Charge RN assist the licensed nursing staff in providing and documenting patient care including assistance with activities of daily living. Supports the unit functions and maintains a safe and clean environment for patients, visitors and co-workers; functions as an integral part of the interdisciplinary care team and communicates pertinent patient information to the supervising RN. Performs some clerical duties as assigned and provides basic nursing care for the adult and geriatric patients. Performs responsibilities within the guidelines of the Nursing Structure Standards, Hospital/Nursing Policy and state regulatory and accrediting requirements.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, TRAINING

1. Must have current and valid license as a Certified Nursing Assistant issued by the State if a CNA. If not a CNA, must have a minimum of one year experience working as Mental Health Worker in a hospital setting.2. BLS within 30 days of hire and maintain current.3. One (1) year prior mental health experience preferred. 4. Familiarity with medical and psychological terminology preferred.
