Description
The Metro Boston Mental Health Unit at Lemuel Shattuck Hospital seeks a compassionate, skilled caregiver to become part of a dynamic nursing team.
The selected candidate provides programmatic direct care services to clients, assists in the implementation of rehabilitative behavior and recreational programs, performs client related housekeeping duties, attends client review meetings, accompanies clients to various appointments, provides leisure activities to clients.The incumbent will serve as a role model for the Mental Health Worker (MHW I, MHW II and, MHW III).
Please Note: This is a full-time (40h/week) Evening shift position with alternating weekends off. Shift Hours: 2:15PM - 11:15 PM. Days off: Week 1: Friday/Sunday, Week 2: Monday/Saturday. Employees in this position will be required to perform mandatory overtime.

We take pride in helping people recover from illnesses and conditions that are often underserved or difficult to manage in other health care settings. The DMH units within the Hospital provide inpatient psychiatric services to adults with serious mental illness with the goal of enhancing autonomy, safety and return to the community.
Patients are treated by a multidisciplinary team, led by attending psychiatrists which also includes psychologists, clinical social workers, psychiatric nurses, mental health workers, occupational therapists and rehabilitative staff specializing in vocational, recreational, and expressive therapies. A variety of treatment modalities are used, including psychopharmacologic, psychotherapeutic (individual, group, and family), psycho-educational, behavioral, cognitive and milieu therapies.

Qualifications

MINIMUM ENTRANCE REQUIREMENTS:
Applicants must have at least (A) three years of full-time or equivalent part-time experience providing direct care service to the mentally ill, emotionally or physically handicapped and (B) of which at least one year must have been in a supervisory capacity, or (C) any equivalent combination of the required experience and the substitutions below.
Substitutions:
II. A Bachelor's degree or higher with a major in psychology, human services, mental health or retardation may be substituted for a maximum of one year of the required (A) experience.
NOTE: No substitutions will be permitted for the required (B) experience.*
*Education toward such a degree will be prorated on the basis of the proportion of the requirements actually completed
Salary placement is determined by a combination of factors, including the candidate’s years of directly related experience and education, and alignment with our internal compensation structure as set forth by the Human Resources Division’s Hiring Guidelines. For all bargaining unit positions (non-management), compensation is subject to the salary provisions outlined in the applicable collective bargaining agreement and will apply to placement within the appropriate salary range.
