Job summary

A leading healthcare provider is seeking a Patient Advocate to support registered nurses in delivering quality patient care in a Short Stay Unit. The role requires effective communication to address patients' needs and create a safe environment. Candidates should hold a relevant degree or certification and have experience with diverse populations.

Qualifications

  • Experience working with mentally ill and/or developmentally delayed clients.
  • Must obtain or complete C.N.A certification within 6 months for internal candidates.

Responsibilities

  • Assists registered nurses in direct patient care and ensures safety and therapeutic environment.

Job description

Job Summary: Provides a role as a patient advocate through role modeling standards of performance and communicating with patients to meet their service needs. Assists registered nurses in direct patient care, specifically in activities of daily living. Ensures a safe and therapeutic environment on the unit through observation, interaction, and group activities.

Specifications: Bachelor’s degree in social sciences preferred; comparable behavioral health experience may substitute for the degree. Experience working with mentally ill and/or developmentally delayed clients. Excellent written skills required. External candidates: must have C.N.A certification. Internal MHW candidates: must obtain or complete C.N.A certification within 6 months of accepting the position.

Schedule: 36/72 Full-Time Evenings, every other weekend.

Unit: Riverview 2 is a Short Stay Unit (SSU).
