Job description

The Mental Health Worker Associate Provides behavioral health interventions for children with trauma ages 2-5 years, in a therapeutic classroom milieu. Opportunity to work closely and actively with colleagues in a team environment.

The Matilda H. Theiss Child Development Center is the cornerstone of early childhood mental health services at UPMC Western Psychiatric Hospital. For over 30 years, Matilda Theiss has supported person-centered, family-focused, positive approaches - as well as individualized models of care - across a continuum of services.

Responsibilities :

  • Develop and monitor group activities for patients in collaboration with the team.
  • Track and summarize daily progress notes and data for assigned patients, covering educational, behavioral, and skills development programs.
  • Work cooperatively in a trans-disciplinary environment under the supervision of senior staff.
  • Participate in behavioral and functional assessments of patients.
  • Maintain professional rapport with co-workers, patients, and visitors.
  • Coordinate data management for program evaluation and report findings to the clinical community.
  • Assess and monitor skills development programs (e.g., cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavioral therapy).
  • Assist in monitoring patient satisfaction from various stakeholders (teachers, parents, child, outside agencies).

Qualifications :

  • Bachelors degree in psychology, social work, counseling and education or related field required.
  • Minimum of One year of experience in mental health or related field preferred.

Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances :

  • Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
  • Act 31 Child Abuse Reporting with renewal
  • Act 33 with renewal
  • Act 34 with renewal
  • Act 73 FBI Clearance with renewal
