Mental Health Worker AIDE (School Based)

Mental Health Worker Aide|$500 Hiring Incentive

Job Summary:

School-based program. Working school day hours (6 Hrs per day when school is in session) as a treatment room monitor, assisting in treatment room management and providing intensive behavior and mental health support including applying identified therapeutic interventions in the treatment rooms.

Essential Functions of the Position:
  • Provide behavioral backup in school setting and crisis intervention.
  • Provide necessary support to Bethesda youth in treatment room setting.
  • Liaison between Bethesda Lutheran Services and involved outside agencies, schools, parents, etc.
  • Documentation of relevant information.
  • Plan and implement therapeutic groups as designated.
  • Assist with scheduling and planning as needed.
  • Work in conjunction with other staff to form efficient, effective, and cohesive team.
  • Counseling, therapeutic interventions.
Professional Responsibilities:
  • Understand and fulfill job duties within the scope of the mission statement.
  • Adhere to the policies and procedures of the agency.
  • Maintain professional relationships with agency personnel, medical personnel and outside agencies.
  • Meet with supervisor biweekly for one-on-one supervision.
  • Act as a positive role model for youth by maintaining a professional demeanor and ethical behavior at all times.
  • Fulfill training requirements as outlined in the Staff Development policy and as required by the supervisor and/or the program.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Ability to multitask while maintaining a positive demeanor during periods of increased demands on time and attention from multiple students.
  • Possess effective communication skills, both verbal and written. This includes the ability to converse with youth and families of various socioeconomic backgrounds in a professional manner.
  • Ability to de-escalate an emotionally charged or potentially violent situation using the least restrictive method possible.
  • Knowledge of education manual, emergency procedures manual, policy and procedures manual and special education regulations.
  • Ability to make independent, well thought out and logical decisions.
Required Education, Experience and Clearances:
  • High School Diploma or GED required. They will also be required to complete all orientation trainings and a specifically outlined 10-hour shadowing/training within the Partial Hospitalization Program prior to being assigned a treatment room.
  • Knowledge of CASSP and special education principles.
  • FBI, Child Abuse History, PA State Police, and Driver Clearances. Other clearances may be required dependent on residency status.
Physical Demands:
  • Lifting requirement of less than 20lbs on an occasional basis.
  • Ability to actively participate in recreational activities such as basketball, swimming, volleyball and walking.
  • Ability to perform a physical intervention which requires the strength to grasp, hold and maneuver a resident into various positions involving standing, sitting, kneeling and laying.

  • All necessary related to clients in the program
