Job summary

Prime Healthcare at Saint Mary of Nazareth Hospital in Chicago seeks an inpatient Mental Health Worker to support licensed nursing staff, assist with activities of daily living, and help maintain a safe unit environment for adults and seniors.

Under RN direction, you will document care and communicate updates to the care team, with a rotating schedule that includes days, weekends, and holidays. A CNA license or equivalent hospital MHW experience is required. On-site parking is provided.

Qualifications

• Must hold a current CNA license issued by the State; if not CNA, minimum one year experience as Mental Health Worker in a hospital setting.
• BLS within 30 days of hire and maintain current.
• One year prior mental health experience preferred.
• Familiarity with medical and psychological terminology preferred.

Responsibilities

• Inpatient Mental Health Worker: under supervision of RN, LVN, or Charge RN assist licensed staff in patient care and daily living activities.
• Document patient care and maintain a safe, clean environment for patients, visitors and staff.
• Communicate pertinent patient information to supervising RN and participate in interdisciplinary team.
• Perform some clerical duties and basic nursing care for adult and geriatric patients.

Education

Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) license

BLS certification

• Compensation: $18.65 to $27.01 per hour

Responsibilities

Mental Health Worker Inpatient: Under the direction and supervision of the RN, LVN or Charge RN assist the licensed nursing staff in providing and documenting patient care including assistance with activities of daily living. Supports the unit functions and maintains a safe and clean environment for patients, visitors and co-workers; functions as an integral part of the interdisciplinary care team and communicates pertinent patient information to the supervising RN. Performs some clerical duties as assigned and provides basic nursing care for the adult and geriatric patients. Performs responsibilities within the guidelines of the Nursing Structure Standards, Hospital/Nursing Policy and state regulatory and accrediting requirements.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, TRAINING

• Must have current and valid license as a Certified Nursing Assistant issued by the State if a CNA. If not a CNA, must have a minimum of one year experience working as Mental Health Worker in a hospital setting.

• Familiarity with medical and psychological terminology preferred.
