Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in related field required.
• Certified Alcohol & Drug Abuse Counselor (CADC) with current Illinois certification within three years of hire.
• Must have control over personal use of mood-altering chemicals and behaviors.
• If recovering from an addiction, must have a minimum of 2 years of uninterrupted recovery and actively treat this addiction.
• Use of usual and customary equipment used to perform essential functions.

Responsibilities

• Assists the interdisciplinary treatment team in patient assessments and the development of goal-directed treatment.
• Works with the treatment team to provide complete services to patients.
• Accurately documents activities according to IIAR policies and procedures.
• Knowledgeable in providing emergency assistance for inappropriate acting out behavior and use de-escalation before emergency measures.
• Knowledgeable about working with patients with dual diagnoses (Co-Occurring Substance Use and Mental Health Disorder).
• Guides activities on the daily schedule to provide optimum treatment and instill positive empowerment.
• Ensures patient contact respects dignity, culture and confidentiality.
• Conducts Addiction Assessments including patient rights and releases of information.
• Participates in interdisciplinary clinical staffing and shares pertinent information.
• Demonstrates Motivational Interviewing with patients.
• Serves as witness for RNs when wasting medication.
