Job Description

This full-time position oversees the Program for Accelerated Clinical Effectiveness (PACE) housing units at Rikers Island. Responsibilities include supervising and training Mental Health Treatment Aide (MHTA) staff, collaborating with the mental health team, conducting clinical rounds, leading therapeutic groups, crisis intervention, and contributing to quality improvement initiatives. The role also involves administrative duties, patient monitoring, and participation in program planning and training.

Responsibilities
  • Supervise and coordinate work of MHTAs on the unit
  • Handle administrative tasks such as scheduling, coverage, and leave management
  • Analyze data for management decisions
  • Participate in quality assurance and improvement activities
  • Utilize crisis de-escalation techniques when necessary
  • Identify triggers for patient agitation and communicate with the team
  • Report clinical and environmental observations
  • Lead or co-lead therapeutic groups
  • Perform mental health rounds and patient monitoring
  • Orient patients to unit policies and routines
  • Participate in supervision and training sessions
  • Support team and perform other mental health duties as assigned
Qualifications

Preferred qualifications include a Master’s degree in a related field, 2+ years of experience with mentally challenged patients, 1+ years of supervisory experience, strong clinical and interpersonal skills, and familiarity with quality assurance practices.

Minimum Requirements
  • A Master’s degree in Public Administration, Public Health, Business Administration, or related discipline, with 1 year of relevant experience, OR
  • A Baccalaureate Degree in a related discipline, with 2 years of relevant experience.
