Overview

The staff psychologist, directly affiliated with the Counseling Service division of the Counseling Center, will provide services to racially and culturally diverse students and the University community. Responsibilities include offering individual and group psychotherapy/counseling, diagnostic assessment, psychological and career testing, consultation, outreach, and crisis intervention. The psychologist will support the mental health, academic progress, and career development of University students through psycho-educational interventions. Clinical supervision and training of interns, externs, practicum students, and other trainees are expected.

Physical Demands: Standard office work

Minimum Qualifications
  • Education: Doctoral degree from college or university.
  • Experience: Five (5) years of experience as a practicing psychologist.
  • Other: Licensed or licensed and eligible to practice psychology in the State of Maryland.

Licenses/Certifications: Licensed or license-eligible to practice in the State of Maryland within 1 month from hire.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
  • Knowledge of individual and group psychotherapy, counseling, diagnostic assessment, psychological and career testing, consultation, outreach, and crisis intervention.
  • Skill in oral and written communication.
  • Skill in the use of Microsoft Office products.
  • Ability to interpret and apply policies, procedures, regulations, and laws.
  • Ability to multitask while maintaining commitment to customer service and sensitivity to a culturally and ethnically diverse community.
Additional Details

Preferences: Experience working with diverse populations is preferred. Experience treating obsessive-compulsive disorder and related issues is desired. Affiliation with national and regional professional organizations.
