Position Overview: Mental Health Tech

Under the supervision of an RN, the Mental Health Tech is responsible for ensuring patient safety, welfare, and implementing therapeutic milieu and treatment plans. This role involves serving as a patient observer for individuals requiring observation to maximize safety, and performing general receptionist and clerical duties to support nursing unit efficiency.

Minimum Education
  • High school diploma or equivalent (required)
  • Two years of collegiate coursework including psychology, interpersonal communication, abnormal psychology, or human development (preferred)
Required Skills
  • Critical thinking, decisive judgment, and ability to work independently
  • Ability to function effectively in stressful situations
Certifications
  • Basic Life Support (BLS)
  • Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) (preferred)
  • Handle with Care Certification or CPI within 90 days of hire
Work Experience
  • Minimum of 1 year experience in a healthcare setting (preferred)
