Using proven, innovative therapies, our professionals promote long-term wellness through inpatient and outpatient psychiatric care.

The Mental Health Technician (MHT) supports nursing staff by performing assigned tasks and patient care activities within their training scope. The MHT maintains a safe, professional environment in accordance with regulations, Oceans' policies, and performance standards.

Essential Functions:
  1. Follow professional standards, policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
  2. Use supportive behavior and de-escalation techniques to manage patient behavior.
  3. Inventory patient belongings, secure contraband, and perform safety checks.
  4. Adhere to infection control policies and attend in-services.
  5. Assist with patient care under supervision, including vital signs, documentation, and nutritional monitoring.
  6. Help patients with daily activities and mobility needs, respecting individual differences.
  7. Document observations accurately and timely in patient records.
  8. Communicate effectively with nursing staff about patient care and needs.
  9. Perform additional duties as assigned.
Requirements:

Education / Experience: High school diploma or equivalent, CNA certification, or at least 6 months of direct patient care experience.

Skills / Qualifications: Proficiency in reading, writing, and following instructions; excellent communication skills; ability to work with diverse populations; physical and mental health suitability; CPR certification; completion of behavioral de-escalation training.
