Join to apply for the Mental Health Technician PRN Days role at Oceans Healthcare.

The Mental Health Technician (MHT) supports nursing staff in maintaining a therapeutic environment by performing routine tasks and patient care activities within the scope of their training and experience. The MHT ensures patient care adheres to standards set by the Joint Commission, federal and state regulations, Oceans' mission, policies, procedures, and performance improvement standards.

Essential Functions:
  1. Adhere to professional standards, policies, procedures, and comply with federal, state, local, and Joint Commission standards.
  2. Assist in managing patients exhibiting unacceptable behavior using de-escalation and therapeutic interventions.
  3. Inventory patient belongings, secure contraband, and complete safety checks.
  4. Follow infection control policies and attend required training to stay informed.
  5. Assist with patient care under supervision, including vital signs, weights, ADLs, documentation, and nutritional monitoring.
  6. Help patients with laundry, meals, bathroom needs, and mobility, respecting individual needs and cultural sensitivities.
  7. Document observations and patient data accurately and timely in records.
  8. Communicate task outcomes and follow-up needs to nursing staff to ensure continuity of care.
  9. Perform additional duties and projects as assigned.
Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent, CNA certification, or at least 6 months of direct patient care experience. Must be able to read, write, and follow instructions. Excellent communication skills and ability to work with diverse populations are essential. Candidates must be in good health, demonstrate empathy, respect, integrity, and complete CPR and behavioral de-escalation training.

This role may involve high-paced, stressful conditions, and exposure to odors, sights, or unpredictable patient behavior. The position is primarily indoor, with some temperature variation.
