Job summary

Universal Health Services’ Canyon Creek Behavioral Health in Temple, Texas seeks a PRN Mental Health Technician to join the treatment team, providing compassionate patient care across adolescent to geriatric populations. Under RN supervision, the MHT will follow treatment plans, observe changes, document conditions, and communicate with the charge nurse.

Requirements include high school diploma; CNA preferred; CPR training; weekend/night availability may be required.

Qualifications

• Education: High School Diploma or equivalent required; CNA preferred; Degree from an accredited college or university in social work, recreational therapy, or appropriate therapeutic discipline highly desirable.
• Experience: Minimum one (1) year(s) of related experience, with knowledge of psychiatric patient care techniques with understanding of mental illness, preferred.

Responsibilities

• Follow the therapeutic interventions outlined by the treatment team for each patient
• Utilize sound judgment during assessment and observe and document any changes in a patient's appearance, behavior, or ability to work toward treatment plan goals
• Communicate changes in patient's condition to the charge nurse

Education

Position Summary

The Mental Health Technician (PRN) functions as an active part of the treatment team, providing continuous patient care, supervision, interaction, and role modeling to patients ranging in ages from adolescent through geriatrics. All MHT's work under the direction of a Registered Nurse.
