Job Description

Mental Health Technicians are responsible for the following:

  • Assist the RN in delivering care, observe patient behaviors, and document any changes in patients' mood or behavior in a timely manner.

  • Provide one-on-one sessions with assigned patients as needed.

Mental Health Technicians will maintain a full patient caseload with an assigned primary nurse in an inpatient setting, providing care effectively and compassionately for all patients.

Qualifications for this position include:

  • High School Diploma required.

  • At least 12 college credits; a full college degree is preferred.

  • Bachelor's or Associate's degree in a behavioral health field is preferred.

  • One year of experience with behavioral health clients is preferred.

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through AHA is required.

  • Must be trained in PEAT and able to safely schedule and restrain an aggressively acting-out patient.
