Qualifications

  • Two years of related experience in psychiatric care preferred.
  • Must complete Handle with Care, Verbal De-escalation, and CPR training.
  • Must maintain a valid driver's license.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure patient safety and provide continuous supervision.
  • Interact and role model for patients of various age groups.
  • Assist with patient care under the direction of a Registered Nurse.

Skills

Responsibilities

Glen Oaks Hospital is a 54-bed private mental health hospital in a relaxed setting in Greenville, Texas. Our comfortable, homelike atmosphere is conducive to healing for the adults and seniors we treat. Our greatest asset is the staff, comprised of psychiatrists, professional nurses, social workers and therapists. These individuals work as a team to uphold Glen Oaks Hospital’s reputation for excellence in helping patients resolve mental health and addiction problems. For over 30 years, Glen Oaks Hospital has been a leader in the field of mental health and chemical dependency care, and our staff is dedicated to researching the latest treatment approaches and applying this to our overall treatment philosophy.

The primary function of the Mental Health Technician (MHT) is to ensure patient safety. The Mental Health Technician functions as an active part of the treatment team, providing continuous patient care, supervision, interaction, and role modeling to patients ranging in age from preschool through geriatrics depending on which unit worked. MHT's work under the direction of a Registered Nurse.


Qualifications

Education: High School Degree or equivalent is required. Certified Nursing Assistant preferred. Degree from an accredited college or university in social work, recreational therapy or appropriate therapeutic discipline preferred.

Experience: Two (2) years of related experience, with a knowledge of psychiatric patient care techniques with understanding of mental illness, preferred.

Licensure: Must maintain a valid driver's license in the applicable state.

Additional Requirements: Successful completion Handle with Care (HWC), Verbal De-escalation, and CPR before on the unit orientation and prior to assisting with restraining procedures .

May be required to work overtime and flexible hours.
