Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • Six (6) months to one (1) year of experience with psychiatric in-patient populations preferred.

Responsibilities

Job description

Responsibilities

The Mental Health Technician (MHT) provides direct care and supervision for residents, ensures residents' safety, and assists in learning and practicing hygiene and self-help skills. MHTs serve as role models, demonstrating effective problem-solving and decision-making skills. They may be exposed to psychiatric patients who exhibit violent or aggressive behavior. Responsibilities include providing recreational and therapeutic activities, transporting residents to medical appointments, and ensuring scheduled programming is carried out. Duties are performed in accordance with the ANA Standards of Practice for Psychiatric Mental Health Care, facility policies, and standards. MHTs report to the Milieu Manager under the supervision of the Chief Nursing Officer.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Must be at least 21 years of age
  • Bachelor's Degree in Psychology or related field preferred
  • Six (6) months to one (1) year of experience with psychiatric in-patient populations preferred
  • Ability to work 8-hour shifts, standing and walking for prolonged periods
