Job summary

Inova Health System is seeking a Mental Health Technician 2 to join the Fairfax Hospital Nursing Float Pool. The role offers 3 x 12-hour shifts with rotating weekends, daytime or nighttime, and supports patient care across units.

Responsibilities include assisting with education needs, providing ADL support, and orienting patients and families. BLS certification is required upon start. Previous inpatient behavioral health experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• Two years of experience as Mental Health Technician 1 or Clinical Technician 1 at Inova Health System or two years as psychiatric technician at another facility.

Responsibilities

• Assist unit leadership with MHT education needs and compliance.
• Provide individualized patient support for activities of daily living and vital signs.
• Inform patients and families, explain rules and provide printed information.
• Serve as unit preceptor and ensure staff competencies.

Mental Health Technician 2

Inova Fairfax Hospital Nursing Float Pool is looking for a dedicated Mental Health Technician 2 to join the team. This role will be Full-time Day or Night Shift: (3 x 12-hour shifts, 6:00 am to 6:00 pm or 6:00 pm to 6:00 am) with rotating weekends.

Mental Health Technician 2 Job Responsibilities:

• Assists unit leadership with oversight of the unit's Mental Health Technician education needs/compliance.

• Provides individualized patient support for activities of daily living including bathing, feeding, bed making and measurement of vital signs and intake/output.

• Provides information to patients, families and visitors which may include orients patients to the unit/program, explains rationale for rules or restrictions and provides printed information.

• Serves as a resource and unit preceptor for all new Mental Health Technicians. Works with the unit leadership to ensure Mental Health Technicians have current competencies and skills to perform their work.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Education: High School or GED

• Experience: Two (2) years of experience as a Mental Health Technician 1 or Clinical Technician 1 at Inova Health System and/or two (2) years as psychiatric technician at another facility.

• Certification: Basic Life Support (BLS) – American Heart Association- upon start

Preferred Qualifications:

• Previous inpatient behavioral health experience, espeically a variety of units/departments
