Job summary

Catholic Health Initiatives is seeking a Mental Health Technician to support patients in a behavioral health setting. The role involves assisting patients with self-expression and performing essential care tasks. Candidates should have a High School Diploma, BLS certification, and preferably a degree in a Human Service field.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma with at least 1 year of relevant experience preferred.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
  • Preferred: Bachelor’s Degree or completion of Psychiatric Assistant training.

  • Perform basic patient care tasks such as safety rounding and vital signs.

Job description

Responsibilities
  • Assist patients in developing individuality and appropriate self-expression methods by promoting an environment conducive to problem-solving and testing new behaviors.
  • Help patients acknowledge and accept responsibility for their psychological and behavioral patterns through feedback, positive reinforcement, and adherence to program rights, regulations, and behavior modification strategies. Communicate appropriately with patients.
  • Participate in admission procedures; orient patients and their families or significant others to the unit and program.
  • Perform basic patient care tasks such as safety rounding, admissions, vital signs, blood pressure measurement, specimen collection, accu checks, weighing, and assisting with activities of daily living.
Qualifications
  • High School Diploma with at least 1 year of relevant experience preferred.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
  • Preferred: Bachelor’s Degree in Human Service field, or completion of a Psychiatric Assistant or Nurse Aide training program, or one year of experience in the Behavioral Health field.
  • Certification as a Mental Health Technician is preferred.

Pay Range

$15.88 - $21.83 per hour
