Job summary

Dayton Children's Hospital's Mathile Center for Mental Health and Wellness seeks a Mental Health Technician II to provide direct care for pediatric patients with emotional or behavioral conditions under licensed staff. Part-time role, 4 hours per shift, with at least two shifts per month.

You will help maintain a safe, therapeutic milieu, support treatment plans, assist in group sessions, document care, and participate in crisis intervention and discharge planning.

Qualifications

• Associates degree in psychology, social work, or related field.
• CPI or crisis intervention training within 90 days of hire (preferred or required).
• Experience in behavioral health or healthcare setting is desirable.

Job Details:

The Mental Health Technician II provides direct care and support to patients with emotional, psychiatric, or behavioral conditions under the supervision of licensed clinical staff. The MHT assists in maintaining a safe, therapeutic environment and promotes patient engagement in treatment and daily activities. This role is critical in monitoring patient behavior, facilitating group sessions, and supporting overall treatment plans.
The Mental Health Technician II is responsible for performing supportive, trauma informed care to patients/families. Responsibilities include the provision of a safe and therapeutic milieu, completion of routine safety checks and constant attendance per order, adherence to patient-specific treatment plans, crisis intervention, assistance with activities of daily living, appropriate documentation, facilitation of therapeutic group and assistance with programming, collaboration with the treatment team and discharge planning. The MHT demonstrates competence in providing age-appropriate, trauma informed care and service for pediatric patients and actively participates in self-appraisal for performance improvement.

Required Qualifications

• Associates degree in psychology, social worker, or a related field.
• CPI or other crisis intervention training preferred or required within 90 days of hire.

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree
• Minimum of 1 year of experience in a behavioral health or healthcare setting.
• Experience working with patients with mental health or substance use disorders is strongly desired.
