Job description

We are hiring for the position of Mental Health Tech II, 3N, PRN at Peace - Louisville. The primary location is at 2020 Newburg Rd., Louisville, KY 40205.

Job Summary: The Mental Health Technician II provides delegated components of nursing care to patients, including monitoring, specimen collection, psycho-education, assistance with activities of daily living, and behavior management, following physician orders and established policies and procedures. Care is based on defined standards of patient care and practice.

Essential Functions include:

  1. Monitoring patient status through vital signs, weight logs, intake and output, dietary intake, rounds sheets, behavioral logs, and admission checklists, and reporting patient concerns promptly.
  2. Providing verbal and written updates to nursing staff to prioritize patient needs and care.
  3. Delivering skilled patient care such as orientation, transportation, de-escalation, teaching coping skills, specimen collection, assisting with daily activities, and responding to emergencies.
  4. Evaluating patient and family responses to interventions and reporting changes in condition.
  5. Leading psycho-educational groups and care activities aligned with Personal Intervention Plans on the unit.

Shift Requirements: 8 or 12-hour shifts, 3-5 shifts per week, with infrequent overtime.

Other Functions: Maintaining professional development, complying with policies and HIPAA, and performing additional duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications: Candidates must meet one of the following:

  • High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent plus 2 years of social service experience (1 year in direct patient care),
  • 60+ college credits in a social services field plus 1 year of direct patient care,
  • Bachelor’s Degree in a social services field (preferred but not required) with experience.
