Mental Health Tech

Aiken Regional Medical Centers’ Aurora Pavilion Behavioral Health Services provides care for individuals with emotional and behavioral disorders and those with alcohol and substance use disorders. The facility offers comprehensive treatment services by a multidisciplinary team and is accredited by The Joint Commission.

Position Description:

  • Performs data collection accurately and promptly.
  • Recognizes variances in patient condition and reports promptly.
  • Follows the plan of care and recommends changes to meet the ongoing needs of the patient.
  • Provide care related to the patient’s needs and well-being.
  • Participates in shift report as a team member to meet individual patient needs.
  • Completes all work assignments under the direct supervision of the licensed nurse.
  • Reports abnormal data findings promptly.
  • Implements interventions from the plan of care, as assigned.
  • Documents data collection, tasks performed and patient response accurately each shift.
  • Demonstrates restraint use and Handle with Care techniques appropriately.

Qualifications

Position Requirements:

Education requirements: High School diploma or equivalent;

Work experience requirements: Prefer one (1) year full time or three (3) years part time in an acute care setting.

Required licenses/certifications/courses: BLS certification. Successful completion of Handle with Care training within 30 days of hire. Maintains a valid SC driver’s license for patient transport, where applicable. Must have one of the following:

  • Current SC CNA certification
  • Current Medical Assistant certification
  • Current EMT certification
  • Passing grade in Fundamentals of Nursing course and maintain current enrollment in nursing program
  • Associate or Bachelor’s degree in psychology or related field
  • Minimum 1 year of MHT or behavioral health tech experience
