Universal Health Services’ Austin Oaks Hospital in South Austin, Texas seeks a Mental Health Technician for the evening shift to provide direct patient care under the charge nurse, maintaining a safe, therapeutic milieu and assisting with activities of daily living. The role requires flexibility to work with varied patient populations including male adults and those with dual diagnoses.

CPR certification is preferred and one year of psychiatric experience is valued.

POSITION SUMMARY:

Mental Health Technicians Evenings (3p-11p), to provide direct patient care under the supervision of the charge nurse. Responsibilities include the provision of a safe and therapeutic milieu, crisis intervention and assistance with activities of daily living. The Mental Health Technician must demonstrate flexibility for reassignment to units providing care to varied populations including male adults as well as dually diagnosed adults.

Qualifications

Education: High School Diploma or Equivalent.

Experience: One year prior psychiatric experience preferred.

Licensure/Certification: CPR Certification. Human behavior preferred including therapeutic relationships & processes, age specific growth & development, limit setting, crisis & behavior management.
