Job summary

Dallas Behavioral Healthcare Hospital seeks a full-time Mental Health Technician (MHT) and Driver to deliver compassionate, high-quality care to psychiatric inpatients while safely transporting them as needed.

The MHT will support nursing staff, contribute to individualized care plans, and help maintain a safe therapeutic environment in accordance with hospital philosophy of care.

Qualifications

• Requires CPR certification and Handle with Care/Abuse and Neglect training to be provided by employer.
• Active driver’s license is required for transportation duties.
• Minimum 2 years clinical experience in behavioral healthcare preferred.
• Experience with phone triage, tele-health or case management is beneficial.
• Previous work in a free-standing psychiatric setting is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Deliver compassionate care to patients hospitalized for psychiatric and emotional disorders.
• Provide safe transportation to and from the facility as needed.
• Support nursing staff and participate in individualized patient care planning.

Job description

We are seeking a full-time Mental Health Technician (MHT) and Driver to deliver compassionate, high-quality care to patients hospitalized for psychiatric and emotional disorders, while also providing safe transportation to and from the facility. The MHT will support the hospital’s philosophy of care by fostering a safe and therapeutic environment for all patients, maintaining ongoing communication with nursing staff, and actively contributing to the development and implementation of individualized patient care plans.

• Education: High school diploma/GED required.
• Required certifications: CPR (American Heart or American Red Cross), Handle with Care and Abuse and Neglect (training required and employer provided)
• Required licenses: Active driver's license
• Experience: Minimum of 2 years clinical experience, preferably in a behavioral healthcare setting, phone triage, tele-health or case management or combination of education and experience. Experience in a free-standing psychiatric hospital preferred.
• Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
• Must be able to multi-task, prioritize with strong time management skills.
• Screening: Must successfully pass background check, MVR, drug screen, physical and be able to provide positive employment references.
• Physical Demands: With or without reasonable accommodations, must be able to stoop, kneel, crouch, reach, stand for sustained period of time, walk, pull, lift, raise and move objects from position to position (up to 50 lbs), finger grasp; feel sizes, shapes, temperatures, and textures; express or exchange ideas orally and potentially loudly, accurately, or quickly; visually detect, determine, perceive, identify, recognize, judge, observe, inspect, assess; perceive the nature of sound with or without correction; perform repetitive motions of the wrist, hands, or fingers.
