Job summary

The Meadows Psychiatric Center, part of Universal Health Services, seeks a dedicated Mental Health Technician for full-time inpatient care in Central Pennsylvania. Shifts are 8- or 12-hour options: 3pm–11:30pm or 7:00pm–7:30am with rotating weekends.

Under RN supervision, you provide continuous patient care, lead activity groups, monitor safety, document behaviors and progress, and support the treatment team for patients from adolescents to geriatrics.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required.
• 1 year of mental health experience required.
• Excellent verbal communication skills and deescalation ability.
• Ability to remain calm in dynamic environment and provide high level of care.
• Reliable and dependable attendance to work.

Responsibilities

• Responds to patient crisis events using de-escalation techniques.
• Leads activity groups for patients according to the program schedule.
• Conducts patient observation rounds throughout the shift to ensure safety.
• Supervise patients in daily activities and assist treatment team with therapeutic activities.
• Document patient behaviors, condition, and progress.
• Monitors visitation regarding patient safety.

Mental Health Technician Opportunity

This opportunity is full-time 8-hour or 12-hour shift options: 3pm-11:30pm or 7:00pm-7:30am with rotating every other weekend to work.

1 year experience in mental health with a bachelor's degree preferred.

The Meadows Psychiatric Centeris the leading behavioral health treatment facility in Central Pennsylvania. We are located a short distance outside State College, PA. The Meadows is a 119 inpatient behavioral health hospital and has been providing comprehensive services to children, adolescents, adults and older adults for over 35 years.

The Mental Health Technician functions as an active part of the treatment team, providing continuous patient care, supervision, interaction and role modeling to patients ranging in ages from adolescent through geriatrics. All MHT’s work under the direction of a Registered Nurse.
