Glen Oaks Hospital in Greenville, Texas, is seeking a Mental Health Technician to join a dedicated team. You will help ensure patient safety and provide continuous care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse within a 54-bed private mental health setting.

Shifts are varied (3pm–11pm or 11pm–7am), five per week with rotating weekends. CNA experience is preferred; a valid Texas driver’s license is required, and mandatory safety trainings before orientation.

Qualifications

• High School Degree or equivalent is required.
• Two (2) years of related experience preferred.
• Valid driver's license in the applicable state.
• Handle with Care, Verbal De-escalation and CPR training required before orientation.

Responsibilities

• Ensure patient safety as part of the treatment team.
• Provide continuous patient care, supervision, interaction and role modeling.
• Work under the direction of a Registered Nurse.

Glen Oaks Hospital is a 54-bed private mental health hospital in a relaxed setting in Greenville, Texas. Our comfortable, homelike atmosphere is conducive to healing for the adults and seniors we treat. Our greatest asset is the staff, comprised of psychiatrists, professional nurses, social workers and therapists. These individuals work as a team to uphold Glen Oaks Hospital’s reputation for excellence in helping patients resolve mental health and addiction problems. For nearly 40 years, Glen Oaks Hospital has been a leader in the field of mental health and chemical dependency care, and our staff is dedicated to researching the latest treatment approaches and applying this to our overall treatment philosophy.

The primary function of the Mental Health Technician (MHT) is to ensure patient safety. The Mental Health Technician functions as an active part of the treatment team, providing continuous patient care, supervision, interaction, and role modeling to patients ranging in age from preschool through geriatrics depending on which unit worked. MHT's work under the direction of a Registered Nurse.

Hours: Varied. 3pm to 11pm, or 11pm to 7am, 5 shifts per week, rotating weekends

Qualifications

Education: High School Degree or equivalent is required. Certified Nurse Aide preferred. Degree from an accredited college or university in social work, recreational therapy or appropriate therapeutic discipline preferred.

Experience: Two (2) years of related experience, with a knowledge of psychiatric patient care techniques with understanding of mental illness, preferred.

Licensure: Must maintain a valid driver's license in the applicable state.

Additional Requirements: Successful completion Handle with Care (HWC), Verbal De-escalation, and CPR before on the unit orientation and prior to assisting with restraining procedures .

May be required to work overtime and flexible hours.
