Job summary

Dallas Behavioral Healthcare Hospital is seeking full-time Mental Health Techs to care for patients on Senior Adult and Adolescent units. Qualifications

• Must be able to multi-task and prioritize with strong time management skills.

• Minimum of 2 years clinical experience in behavioral healthcare preferred.

Responsibilities

• Participate in treatment planning by identifying patient problems, needs, and strengths and suggest plan modifications.
• Provide input during shift reports and discharge planning.
• Monitor patients' progress and communicate behaviors to the treatment team.
• Maintain communication with patients, families, and referral sources.
• Co-facilitate didactic, educational, and community groups within adolescent programs.
• Supervise patients to ensure safety and involvement in treatment; enforce behavior management.
• Maintain documentation for patient, program and department activities.
• Orient new patients to unit, program and milieu.
• Assist with activities of daily living as appropriate and approved by the plan of care.
• Carry out clerical/administrative tasks to support patient care and hospital operations.

Shift Options: 7 PM- 7 AM Rotating Weekends

The position will work with children, adolescents and adults

We are looking to hire full-time Mental Health Techs (MHT) to provide high quality care to patients on our Senior Adult and Adolescent units who are hospitalized with psychiatric/ emotional disorders. MHT's hired must support the hospital program philosophy of care, support and ensure a therapeutic milieu for all patients, communicate with nursing staff constantly and participate in the patient plan of care.

• Participate in treatment planning by helping identify patients' problems, needs, and strengths; suggesting modifications to treatment plan based on observations of patients' behavior.
• Provides input during shift report and discharge planning.
• Participate in implementing patients' treatment plans by monitoring patients' progress, communicating information regarding patients' behavior to other members of treatment team.
• Maintains communication with patient, family members, and referral sources in patients' interest
• Co-facilitates didactic, educational, and community groups within the context of the adolescent treatment program encouraging and facilitating patients' participation in therapeutic activities.
• Supervises patients to ensure their safety and their involvement in treatment and during transport
• Participate in maintaining the therapeutic milieu on the unit, enforces the level system or other methods of behavior management.
• Maintain patient, program, department, and related documentation.
• Orient new patients to unit, program and milieu.
• Carry out general nursing assistance as assigned and supervised by nurse in charge.
• Maintains a safe, orderly, and therapeutic physical environment for patients.
• Assists patients in carrying out activities of daily living, when congruent with the patients' treatment plan and needs, age, and developmental level.
• Carry out clerical/administrative assignment to support patient care and department and hospital operations.

• Performs related duties, as requested.
• Upholds the Organization's ethics and customer service standards.

• Education: High school diploma or equivalent required. CPR and MANDT are required (training required and employer provided)
• Required Licenses : None
• Preferred Licenses / Certifications; Registered Behavioral Technician or Certified Nursing Assistant.
• Experience: Minimum of 2 years clinical experience, preferably in a behavioral healthcare setting, phone triage, tele-health or case management or combination of education and experience. Experience in a free standing psychiatric hospital preferred.
• Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
• Must be able to multi-task, prioritize with strong time management skills.
• Screening: Must successfully pass background check, drug screen, physical and be able to provide positive employment references.
