Mental Health Security Specialist II (LRC)

Lincoln Regional Center is seeking compassionate and dedicated Mental Health Specialists to join our team and make a meaningful impact on the lives of Nebraskans every day.

As a Mental Health Specialist you will play a vital role in the care of patients at Lincoln Regional Center to include:

  • Working directly with the adult patient population
  • Ensuring the safety of the individuals served
  • Providing a safe and therapeutic living environment
  • Encouraging participation in treatment
  • Modeling appropriate interactions
  • Documentation of efforts and/or areas of concern
  • May be required to transport patients using a state car

Work Schedule: Full-time positions available: 1st Shift (6:45am-3:15pm), 2nd Shift (2:45pm - 11:15pm), and 3rd Shift (11:00pm-7:00am). Full-time schedules include every other weekend off. On-Call - requires working 32 hours (minimum) per month, 16 hours have to be weekend hours (2:45pm Fridays - 7:00am Mondays), and you must work 1 major holiday per year.

3 sets of scrubs will be furnished by LRC to all Mental Health Specialists.

Pay Rate: Starting pay rate $26.520/hour plus additional shift differential pay for 2nd shift and 3rd shift.

Requirements / Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications: Must be at least 19 years of age to work with adult client populations.

Preferred Qualifications: High School Diploma. One year or more combined experience or education in human services, customer service, or military service.

Other: Must have a valid driver's license.

Knowledge of: security measures required in the care of criminal and dangerously insane patients; techniques of caring for physically and/or mentally ill patients; human behavior and performance; principles and methods for instructing individuals and groups.

Skill in: listening and understanding; communicating effectively as appropriate for the intended audience; teaching others how to do something.

Ability to: give leadership to lesser-experienced workers; interpret and follow all facility/ward instructions; prepare reports; carry out nursing procedures as prescribed; make decisions and act quickly in situations involving patient care or safety; communicate with co-workers, management and patients; lift, push, pull or bend to assist clients in meeting their needs and maintaining safety within the facility/ward.
