Johnson County Mental Health is looking for qualified applicants to fill the position of Mental Health Registered Nurse (RN). This position will support the needs of our Shawnee and Olathe clinics, as well as our residential programs. The schedule will start as outlined below:

• Four 10-hour shifts per week
• 10:00 a.m. - 8:30 p.m. Rotating schedule: Week 1: Monday through Thursday Week 2: Wednesday through Saturday

Job Description

Job duties:

• Provides comprehensive nursing services; assesses the holistic needs of individuals by incorporating family and environmental factors; collects and documents patient health history; measures and records vital signs; completes health assessments and performs limited exams; manages, controls and implements medication administration programs; administers psychotropic injectable medications.
• Completes and submits documentation regarding patient care and condition; reviews quality and effectiveness of services provided and documented by other service providers.
• Provides patients and families with supportive resources; educates patients in areas impacting health, wellness, and daily living activities; develops and provides specialized health training and education to staff.
• Provides case management, care coordination, referral and follow-up to individuals and/or families; evaluates outcomes, effectiveness of plans, and makes changes as necessary.

Job Requirements

Minimum Job Requirements:

High school or equivalent and a Vocational, Associate's, or Bachelor's degree in Nursing or other Nursing program that meets the requirements for the Registered Nurse license are required. Licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the State of Kansas is required. KS/MO drivers license with an acceptable driving record required.

Johnson County Government requires reference/background screening for all positions. Specified criteria may vary by Department/Agency.

Preferred Job Requirements:

One year of nursing experience is preferred.

Physical, Environmental, and Special Working Conditions:

Excessive standing and/or walking: 40%.

Lifting: varies by assignment.

Exposure to hazardous materials (bodily fluids).

Within sixty (60) days of hire, employees (select DHE and EMS positions) must produce proof of immunization, proof of immunity, proof that immunization is medically contraindicated, submit a written objection to immunization based upon a sincerely held religious belief, or receive vaccination for the following: Measles, Mumps, and Rubella (MMR); Tetanus Diphtheria and Acellular Pertussis (TDAP); and Varicella (Chickenpox).

All County employees may be called upon to assist other departments in a declared emergency situation.
