Job description

Position Overview

Our Agency is committed to supporting the recovery of individuals with mental illnesses by providing comprehensive medical and support services for children, adults, and families throughout South Carolina.

The position is located at the Department of Mental Health, Waccamaw Center for Mental Health, 9630 Scipio Lane, Myrtle Beach, SC 29588.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Master's degree in guidance, counseling, or social sciences.
  • One year of clinical experience providing direct patient care, including internship, practicum, or postgraduate work with patients.
  • Meet DMH credentialing requirements.
  • Possibly eligible for SCDMH Student Loan Repayment program.
Responsibilities
  1. Provide therapeutic services under supervision, focusing on Adult and Child and Adolescent services.
  2. Coordinate intakes and aftercare appointments.
  3. Deliver counseling and case management, including assessments, crisis intervention, individual, group, and family therapy, education, and home visits.
  4. Maintain documentation in compliance with applicable standards.
  5. Collaborate with schools, community agencies, and DMH staff.
  6. Educate the community through workshops and presentations.
  7. Perform case management, interviewing, and assessment skills.
  8. Participate in ongoing training and maintain clinical skills.
  9. Provide after-hours emergency services as directed.
  10. Perform other duties as required.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Thorough knowledge of mental health services for diverse populations.
  • Effective communication and coordination skills.
  • Ability to perform assessments and case management.
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently with good clinical judgment.
State Minimum Requirements
  • Master's degree in guidance, social sciences, or counseling.
  • Meet SCDMH credentialing requirements, including coursework in psychopathology, ethics, and clinical assessment.
  • Submit unofficial graduate transcripts for review.
Agency Minimum Requirements

Additional Preferences

Bilingual abilities in English and Spanish (or other languages) are a plus.
