Job summary

The State of South Carolina, through the Office of Mental Health, is seeking a Mental Health Professional I - Clinic Based to provide recovery-oriented counseling and case management across clinic, community, or home settings.

You will deliver individual, group, and family services, document thoroughly, and work to maintain CARF accreditation standards while pursuing ongoing professional development.

Qualifications

  • Master's degree in counseling, social work, or related field meeting licensure eligibility as LPC, LMFT, or LISW-CP.
  • Ability to pursue licensure and maintain required certifications.
  • Bilingual abilities in English and Spanish are a plus.

Responsibilities

This position is located at the SC Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities (DBHDD) - Office of Mental Health, Berkeley Community Mental Health Center, 403 Stony Landing Road, Moncks Corner, SC 29461.

As a Mental Health Professional I, under general supervision, provides recovery-oriented counseling and related behavioral healthcare services, and/or case management functions.

Responsibilities for the Mental Health Professional I - Clinic Based:
  • Provide an array of clinical services and meet Patient Care Hour expectations as indicated on the performance review (EPMS). Services may be provided in the clinic, community, and/or patient homes. Services include but are not limited to, assessment; treatment planning; crisis management; individual, group, and/or family therapy; and case coordination. Services are delivered in a person-centered, recovery-oriented manner.
  • Provide services with patient input and document in accordance with Quality Assurance (QA) and other required standards. Requirements may include but are not limited to; appropriate discharge planning, and timely and thorough completion of collaborative documentation, DLA-20s, Plans of Care, Progress Summaries, Safety Plans, and Collaborative Documentation.
  • Build and maintain positive relationships with patients, internal staff, and external community partners in order to facilitate linkages to services and provide quality treatment. Participate in meetings, supervision, and interagency staffing as needed.
  • Comply with Corporate Compliance Policy; all State and Federal laws; all Agency and Center policies and procedures. Help ensure area is CARF accredited.
  • Pursue professional development through collegial consultation, supervision, continuing education, training, and licensure/certification as applicable. Maintain all required certifications and licenses.

This position MAY be eligible for BHDD-OMH Student Loan Repayment to cover some of the cost of your outstanding loan(s) balance associated with the completion of a healthcare degree that is relevant to the appliable position.

  • A master's degree in guidance, counseling, social work, social sciences or a related field that meets the eligibility for licensure as an LPC, LMFT, or LISW-CP.
Additional Requirements:
  • This position is considered essential and can be called in during times of emergency, disaster, or other needs.
  • Bilingual abilities in English and Spanish (or another language) are a plus.
Post hire, employees must have:
  • Knowledge of counseling practices, including knowledge of psychopathology, diagnosing, and treatment of behavioral health disorders including mental illness.
  • Ability to effectively communicate and establish and maintain effective relationships with patients, families, other professionals, and community partners.
