Job summary

Nebraska Department of Correctional Services is seeking a Behavioral Health Practitioner to provide individualized and group counseling to incarcerated individuals, including crisis intervention. Qualifications

• Licensed or provisionally licensed mental health professional required in Nebraska.
• Master’s degree in Social Work, Counseling, or related field is required for licensure.
• State Licenses as Mental Health Practitioner and/or Alcohol and Drug Counselor preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide individual and group counseling to inmates and crisis intervention.
• Complete timely written documentation for assigned inmates.
• Consult with staff on inmate mental status and treatment progression; participate in MDT meetings.
• Screen and refer inmates to review teams and assess suicide risk.
• On-call mental health coverage outside regular hours.
• Perform other duties as assigned by BHP supervisor.
