Position: Mental Health Peer Specialist

The Mental Health Peer Specialist is responsible for providing peer support to adults struggling with mental health issues, both within the agency and in the community. The work involves participating as part of a multi-disciplinary team to plan and deliver appropriate treatment interventions aimed at helping individuals regain and maintain psychiatric stability and other functional abilities. In consultation with mental health professionals and paraprofessionals, the Peer Specialist addresses the needs of their assigned individuals within their scope of practice.

Minimum Qualifications:
  1. High school diploma or GED; must be a Certified Peer Specialist.
  2. Must currently or formerly be a recipient of mental health or dual diagnosis services; publicly self-identify as someone with personal experience in recovery from mental health challenges. Must hold a valid NYS Driver’s License meeting insurability guidelines.
