Job summary

Aspire Health Alliance is seeking a Mental Health Peer Specialist to join their Adult Crisis Intervention Program. In this role, you will provide essential peer counseling and support to help clients in their recovery journey. You will advocate for clients, ensuring their voices are heard within the mental health system while working under the guidance of the Director of Crisis and Rehabilitation Services.

Qualifications

  • Experience in peer support or counseling preferred.
  • Direct experience as a recipient of mental health services is valuable.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and empathetically with clients.

Job description

Great opportunity exists as a Mental Health Peer Specialist in our Adult Crisis Intervention Program!

The Mental Health Peer Specialist provides peer counseling and support, drawing on common experiences as a peer, to validate clients’ experiences, and to provide guidance and encouragement to clients to take responsibility and actively participate in their own recovery.

The Crisis Intervention Services include the Adult and Youth Mobile Crisis Intervention program and are part of Aspire's Community Behavioral Health Center. Crisis services are home and community-based services for children, adolescents, adults, and families in need of immediate psychiatric intervention.

Under the direction of the Director of Crisis and Rehabilitation Services, the Mental Health Peer Specialist works to provide information, support, assistance, and advocacy for recipients, and/or caregivers/family members of consumers of mental health emergency services. Will also provide feedback and perspective to the mental health system regarding the impact and effectiveness of the services provided, and to assist with other work related to client care, as required.
