Base pay range

$140,631.00/yr - $170,945.00/yr

We're seeking registered nurses passionate about delivering high-quality care to vulnerable patients in a collaborative community setting. As a Mental Health Nurse, you will provide direct service and nursing care management to Berkeley community members facing severe mental illness.

Our outpatient clinic serves 260 patients with varying needs, many on Medi-Cal or uninsured, dealing with conditions like schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, and substance use disorder. We operate within an Assertive Community Treatment (ACT) model and other programs such as Homeless Full Services Partnership, Comprehensive Community Treatment, and Focus on Independence.

This role offers collaboration with high-caliber colleagues in a team-based environment, with case managers for all patients and strong administrative support.

Minimum Qualifications

The typical pathway includes:

• Graduation from a two-year accredited college or university with coursework in nursing and at least one (1) year of experience as a registered nurse in a mental health setting, or completion of a three-month senior preceptorship in mental health nursing within the past five (5) years.
• Possession of a valid California RN license.
• Ability to travel within and outside Berkeley, maintaining a valid California driver’s license and a satisfactory driving record.
• Comfort providing services in clinics, patients’ homes, and homeless encampments.

Ideal candidates will have knowledge of mental illnesses, substance use disorders, and physical health conditions, with skills in comprehensive nursing assessments, mental status examinations, and familiarity with psychotherapeutic treatments and medications.
