Job summary

Blue Ridge Behavioral Healthcare in Roanoke, VA seeks a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) for relief coverage, up to 20 hours per week. The role spans all units at the Crisis Receiving Center, including psychiatric nursing and medical detox in a short-term residential setting.

The LPN will administer medications, monitor vitals, educate clients on medications, and document in the electronic health record. A VA license and background checks are required.

Qualifications

• Successful completion of an accredited Licensed Practical Nurse program.
• One year proving medication management is required; psychiatric nursing experience is a plus.
• Current Licensed Practical Nurse licensure in Virginia.
• Background checks (state, FBI) and drug testing required; central registry check.
• Valid driving record required; occasional local travel may be necessary.

Responsibilities

• Administering PO, SubQ, and IM medications.
• Obtain and interpret vital signs and weights; monitor labs.
• Educate clients on psychotropic/medical medications and health topics.
• Document nursing assessments, medication orders, and services in EHR.
• Collaborate with clients, providers, pharmacists, and case managers regarding medications.
