Job summary

Maricopa County is seeking a mental health professional to support patients within the county jail system, under supervision, to gain clinical experience and supervision toward independent licensure.

You will work as part of a collaborative team in Correctional Health Services, with opportunities for growth, tuition reimbursement, and a strong emphasis on work-life balance and community impact.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in social work, counseling, psychology, or a related field from an accredited program.
• Valid, unrestricted license issued by the Arizona State Board of Behavioral Health Examiners as a LMSW, LAC, LASAC/LAAC, or LAMFT.
• One year of post-graduate behavioral health experience.

Responsibilities

• Complete bio-psychosocial assessments, suicide risk assessments, and other clinical forms under supervision.
• Provide individual and group psycho-education and crisis intervention services under supervision.
• Coordinate with the multi-disciplinary team regarding patient care.
• Develop and coordinate patient discharge/re-entry plans.
• Obtain treatment records and coordinate care with family, community providers, and others involved in care.
• Maintain a list of community resources to support transition and re-entry.

We Require

• One year of post-graduate behavioral health experience
• Master's degree in social work, counseling, psychology, or a related field from an accredited program
• A valid, unrestricted license issued by the Arizona State Board of Behavioral Health Examiners as a: Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW), OR
• Licensed Associate Counselor (LAC), OR
• Licensed Associate Substance Abuse Counselor (LASAC)/ Licensed Associate Addiction Counselor (LAAC) OR
• Licensed Associate Marriage and Family Therapist (LAMFT)

Job Contributions

• Coordinate with the multi-disciplinary team regarding patient care

• Obtain relevant treatment records and coordinate care with family members, community providers, and others relevant to the patient's care and community re-entry plan
• Maintain and update a list of community resources to support the patient's transition and re-entry back to the community, including civil commitment procedures, RBHA services, and criminal justice processes

Working Conditions

• Must complete a CPR certification during new hire orientation
• Must complete an MCSO-HR fingerprint background check
• Must be able to work inside a jail environment, consisting of working in close proximity to inmates and other staff, and being indoors in a confined area, handling multiple or complicated tasks
• Requires accuracy, decision-making, and concentration skills to be vigilant in a teamwork environment
• Performs a high volume of work under short deadlines or with time pressures to complete frequently changing and unscheduled tasks
