Qualifications

  • Knowledge of the Texas Penal Code, Code of Criminal Procedure, Health and Safety Code, and Family Code.
  • Ability to read and write reports, letters, and operate computers.
  • Ability to safely operate vehicles and firearms and use specialized equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Promote and maintain a safe and peaceful community.
  • Preserve order and protect life and property.
  • Enforce laws and ordinances with fairness and respect.
  • Respond to emergencies as a first responder.
  • Transport individuals to crisis stabilization or appropriate facilities.
  • Coordinate with mental health professionals and law enforcement partners.
  • Attend required departmental meetings and perform other duties as assigned.
  • Testify in court and assist other divisions as needed.
