Mental Health Counselor II - Multiple Locations

The Mental Health Counselor II is an entry-level position suitable for individuals with a bachelor’s degree interested in working with individuals with chronic mental illness. The role offers opportunities to learn about medications and treatment modalities that contribute to recovery and quality of life, as well as exposure to medical and psychiatric issues related to long-term psychotropic medication use and aging.

Driving is required and will be frequent, mainly during the 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. shift, with some shifts from 3:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m., and occasional overnight driving.

Mon Yough Community Services is seeking to fill various shifts at multiple locations, including:

• Versailles
• 705 Fifth Avenue
• Long Run Road
• 624 Lysle

Schedules:

• Nontraditional shifts, including daylight, evening, and overnight shifts, with varying days (e.g., Monday through Friday, Sunday through Thursday, or Tuesday through Saturday).
• Occasional shifts at different sites for regulatory staffing.
• Work on weekends and holidays.

Common shifts include 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., 3:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m., and 11:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m. (hours and travel are subject to change).

Responsibilities:

• Assist residents with medical appointments, emergency care, financial assistance, budgeting, and daily living skills; provide transportation education.
• Document shift activities, including notes, medication records, and resident health measurements.
• Build relationships with residents, conduct weekly meetings, set goals, provide guidance, crisis intervention, and lead social/educational groups.
• Orient residents to the community, educate on emergency procedures, teach social skills, communicate with the treatment team, attend meetings, liaise with providers, and perform safety checks.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree required.
• Experience in career counseling for clients with substance abuse or from disadvantaged populations is preferred.
• Certified Rehabilitation Counselor (CRC) certification is preferred.

Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:

• Basic Life Support (BLS) or CPR
• Comprehensive Crisis Management (CCMC)
• Driver's License
• Act 34 Clearance
• OAPSA Clearance
