Rutgers University Behavioral Health Care (UBHC), established in 1971, provides a comprehensive range of evidence-based behavioral health and addiction services across New Jersey. With a team of 1,060 professionals and support staff, UBHC is one of the largest providers of behavioral health care in the country, offering services including inpatient, outpatient, crisis stabilization, family support, community outreach, and specialized programs such as suicide prevention helpline and peer support lines. In FY2016, UBHC served over 16,000 consumers and conducted extensive training for state departments.

Posting Summary

Rutgers University is seeking a Mental Health Clinician III within the Rutgers University Behavioral Health Care to provide evaluation, assessment, and therapeutic intervention for individuals. Responsibilities include developing treatment plans, conducting therapy sessions, and case management.

Key Duties
  1. Participate actively in departmental functions and demonstrate initiative and flexibility.
  2. Support an environment that respects the dignity and enhances the self-image of clients.
  3. Provide individual, group, and family therapy based on sound clinical judgment.
  4. Adapt assessment and treatment processes to individual needs considering age, culture, and other factors.
  5. Identify appropriate resources, perform case management, and ensure treatment coordination through documentation and referrals.
  6. Contribute meaningfully to multidisciplinary treatment planning meetings.
  7. Participate in program development, implementation, and evaluation.
Position Details

Status: Full Time

Work Arrangement: On-site

FLSA: Exempt

Salary Range: $60,543 - $85,865 annually

Hours: 37.50 per week

Qualifications
  • Master's Degree in a mental health discipline.
  • Licensure to practice as required by New Jersey law. For Social Work, active NJ certification/licensure is necessary.

Physical Demands and Work Environment

Physical Demands: Clear speech, proficient writing/typing, ability to implement safety precautions, extended sitting.

Work Environment: Moderate noise, potential exposure to crises, assaultive behaviors, bloodborne pathogens, and varying temperatures. Community outreach may involve travel.
