Job summary

The Virginia Department of Corrections is seeking a Mental Health Clinician I at Green Rock Correctional Center. You will provide mental health services to inmates, including crisis intervention, screening, psychoeducational services, individual and group therapy, treatment planning, and release planning under supervision of the Psychologist/Mental Health Clinician Senior.

This role screens inmates, develops and monitors mental health programs at the facility, may work with special units, and

Qualifications

• Training and experience in treating mental disorders.
• Ability to develop intervention and treatment plans.
• Experience providing individual and group counseling/therapy.
• Knowledge of psychopathology, diagnostic nomenclature, and ethics.
• Ability to train others.
• Effective written and oral communication.

Responsibilities

• Provide mental health services to inmates including crisis intervention, screening, therapy, and treatment planning.
• Screen and monitor inmates with mental health needs in intake, general population, and Restorative Housing.
• Develop, implement, and monitor facility-wide mental health services, policies and programs.
• Serve as a consultant to Administration, Security, Treatment and Community Corrections staff.
• Provide in-service training.
