The role of the Mental Health Clinician is to engage children under five, their parents and caregivers as they build and maintain healthy relationships, learn to respond with love and kindness, and acquire skills and tools needed to effectively support future growth and development through a variety of developmentally appropriate treatment modalities including, Child-Parent Psychotherapy and Creative Arts Therapy.
Responsibilities
- Provide a range of clinical support services to families with children ages 0 – 5 years old including individual and family consultation and treatment, advocacy, and connections to other support services both internally and externally to an estimated caseload of 10 – 15 families
- Administer screening and assessment tools, such as DECA, PHQ-9, ASQ, during assessment and throughout treatment to aid in the development of treatment plans
- Conduct home or school observations as needed as part of assessment and treatment planning
- Provide clinical intervention using trauma informed modalities in a variety of settings within the Early Childhood Division and with community partners
- Document, track and maintain records of services provided and treatment progress using Salesforce and other data collection portals used by the program
- Facilitate workshops for parents, caregivers, and community members on topics related to the social-emotional development of children under five
- Facilitate training for University Settlement staff and community partner staff on services provided by the program and topics related to the social-emotional development of children under five, and childhood trauma
- Develop and maintain partnerships with a network of multi-disciplinary community-based organizations
- Attend meetings (staff meetings, case conferences, interdisciplinary team meetings, reflective supervision)
- Participate in internal and external staff development and training opportunities
- Perform other related duties as requested by supervisor
Qualifications
- Master’s degree in clinical psychology, social work, counseling, creative arts therapy or related field required
- LMSW, LCSW, LMHC, LCAT or equivalent required, SIFI preferred
- Minimum of 1-3 years of experience providing clinical mental health services to children ages 0 – 5 years old and their families
- Knowledge of early childhood development and early childhood trauma focused treatment
- Possess the ability to work with families in a supportive manner throughout the diagnostic and referral process
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Capacity to function as a member of an interdisciplinary team
- Bilingual English/Spanish
Work Schedule: Full time, Monday - Friday, 9:00am - 5:00pm, 35 hours per week
