A Brief Overview

This position provides clinical supervision to Clinical Therapists within the Linden Oaks Medical Group Counseling Center assisting in the resolution of operational and patient care concerns. Provides staff education related to clinical skill development and in the orientation of new employees. In collaboration with other members of the interdisciplinary healthcare team, assesses immediate and ongoing needs of the patient, provides acute behavioral interventions and offers recommendations for continued care options. Prepares and updates medical records including plan of care. Determines collateral supports, available resources and patient and family response to recommendations.

What You Will Do

  • Partners with the Manager, LOMG Counseling Center to develop the schedule for the LOMG Clinical Therapists. In conjunction with the Director, manages personnel files, disseminates information, assists with annual evaluations and provides education, resources and supervision to these staff as required.
  • Provides clinical supervision to staff as designated by the Manager. This may include three letter licensure staff and/or clinical interns. Assists Director in the evaluation process of students to ensure accurate assessments of skills.
  • Provides training to clinical staff as requested by Director in relation to development of clinical skills and designated competencies. Acts as a preceptor orienting new employees. Educates new employees on clinical skills related to development of care plans and clinical documentation.
  • Facilitates or co-facilitates the regular clinical team meetings and provides input on the psychosocial, disease management and case management needs of the patient. Facilitates weekly group supervision/case consultation groups at designated site.
  • Participates in monthly clinical team lead meetings for refinement of clinical practice and problem-solving practice concerns.
  • Demonstrates an understanding, and adheres to all procedures and legislation, which apply to patients cared for in a Mental Health setting.
  • Demonstrates a comprehensive knowledge of community resources to provide patient support and supplement treatment gains.
  • Documents therapy performed, interventions, patient’s clinical status, progress, family and school involvement and discharge planning process in the patient electronic medical record.
  • Develops and delivers community education programs to enhance community awareness of mental health issues and resources available to address these issues, supports organization’s strategic marketing effort.
  • Responds to psychiatric emergency codes utilizing training in management of aggressive behavior.
  • Assists in the development and maintenance of QI programs for Linden Oaks Medical Group Counseling services. Gathers data, interprets trends and develops appropriate action plans in relation to the LOMG site specific scorecards/patient satisfaction surveys/outcome measures and reports to the Director.
  • Audits charts to monitor internal compliance practices and reports deficiencies to the Director and assists in the development of corrective action plans.
  • Actively participates in program development of clinical services and the associated resources which support the clinical work conducted within the practice.
  • Performs the duties of a LOMGCC Clinical Therapist, maintaining a caseload of approximately 20-26 patients per week.
  • Participates in activities that enhance professional growth and development.
  • May serve as a spokesperson before professional or community groups.

What You Will Need

  • 3 Years of experience in a Behavioral health
  • Masters degree or higher in Behavioral Health
  • Knowledge of developmental psychology, disease pathology and clinical needs of assigned population
  • Ability to maintain information which is highly confidential
  • Ability to clearly summarize pertinent clinical information via written correspondence and medical records documentation
  • Must be able to demonstrate self-control in volatile or hostile situations
  • Must be able to set therapeutic limits and maintain therapeutic distance with clients; maintains therapeutic boundaries with patients during treatment and following discharge

Required License And/or Certification

  • Current State of Illinois licensure e.g. LCSW (Licensed Clinical Social Worker), LCPC (Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor) or Clinical Psychologist (Psy D/Ph D)
  • CPI (Crisis Prevention Intervention) certification within 90 days of hire
