Job summary

Chamberlain College of Nursing seeks Part-Time Clinical Instructors to mentor nursing students in our Arlington, VA location. Instructors will supervise students in inpatient clinical settings, bridging classroom learning with real-world patient care.

Candidate with MSN or higher is encouraged to apply; teaching experience is not required. Clinicals are scheduled in facilities around Arlington, VA; flexibility for local assignments is preferred.

Qualifications

• Master's or Doctoral degree in Nursing from a regionally accredited college or university.
• An unencumbered professional nursing license in VA.
• At least two years professional experience within last five years in the area of instruction as a registered nurse.
• Live within a reasonable proximity of Arlington, VA - will be teaching at the clinical locations assigned per session.
• Teaching or precepting experience is preferred but not required.

• Teach and implement the College's philosophy, curriculum, program outcomes, and course objectives through clinical teaching and service.
• Plan clinical experiences and provide direct supervision and evaluation of nursing students.
• Develop and post written clinical assignments with knowledge base and skill competency in mind.
• Evaluate and provide feedback on performance based on course objectives and student needs.
• Coordinate clinical site policies and expectations and maintain visibility with staff and students on-site.
• Contribute to program and college development and participate in assessment and retention efforts.

Job Description

Chamberlain College of Nursing seeks Part-Time Clinical Instructors interested in teaching students in our Bachelor of Science in Nursing program located in the Arlington, VA area.

You will be mentoring students in person at an inpatient clinical setting. You'll be making connections between what our students are learning in the classroom and during simulations, with the real-world applications in patient care they are experiencing on-site. By bridging this gap, we can ensure that our students are not only well-prepared for their roles as healthcare professionals but also confident in their abilities to provide high-quality care to their patients.

Clinicals are scheduled in a healthcare facility in the Arlington, VA area.

Students will bedemonstratingnursing skills and procedures in an inpatient healthcare center.Emphasis is on the dynamics of an individual’s ability to function in society. The course focuses on contentrelativeto anxiety,self-concept, thought disorders, mood alterations, addictive behaviors, organic brain dysfunction,abuse,and violence issues.

Responsibilities

• Teaching and Curriculum Implementation
  • Implement the College's philosophy, curriculum, program outcomes, and course objectives through clinical teaching and service.
  • Assume responsibility for all autonomous aspects of individual teaching loads.
  • Plan clinical experiences and provide direct supervision and evaluation of nursing students.
• Student Evaluation and Support
  • Develop and post written clinical assignments consistent with student's knowledge base, skill competency and individual learning needs.
  • Evaluate and provide documented feedback on performance to students based on course objectives.
  • Be available for remediation of students as required or needed.
  • Correct and return homework, quizzes, tests, lab assignments, clinical paperwork, and other written work in a timely manner.
• Clinical Coordination
  • Orient and maintain current knowledge related to clinical site policies, procedures, and expectations with the assistance of the clinical site personnel.
  • Develop and post written clinical assignments consistent with students' knowledge base, skill competency, and individual learning needs.

  • Maintain visibility while staying available to staff and students at the clinical site.
• Program and College Development
  • Contribute to the ongoing development, implementation, and evaluation of the programs and the College.

  • May teach simulation/skills lab and/or didactic course content under supervision of course coordinator.
• Professionalism and Collaboration
  • Serve as a professional role model for other faculty, staff, and students.
  • Utilize relationship skills in situations requiring group problem solving, consensus building, and win-win negotiation.
  • Work with college administration, staff, and other faculty members to improve the overall operation of the college and student satisfaction rates.
• Regulatory Compliance and Reporting
  • Comply with all applicable regulatory rules and standards.
  • Keep the course coordinator informed of all student and agency issues and concerns.
  • Report to the dean or assistant dean, with direct oversight from a course coordinator.
• Handle related duties and perform other duties as assigned, comply with all policies and standards.

Chamberlain Visiting Professor Position - Online

In support of the pay transparency laws enacted across the country, the expected compensation rate for this position is between $715/Earned Credit Hour to $1,950/Earned Credit Hour, depending on the candidate’s education and experience.

Chamberlain Visiting Professor Position - Campus

In support of the pay transparency laws enacted across the country, the expected compensation rate for this position is between $1,120 per assignment to $7,245 per assignment, depending on the candidate’s education and experience.
