Job summary

Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston is seeking a Mental Health Associate for a 36-hour rotating schedule. You will perform mental health patient care activities delegated by the clinical nurse and report to the nurse manager for administrative and professional development.

The position requires a High School diploma or GED, 1-3 years of related experience, and basic computer skills; an Associate’s degree in Psychology or Counseling is preferred.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• Associate’s degree preferred in Psychology, Counseling, or related field.
• 1-3 years related work experience required.
• Basic familiarity with computers; ability to navigate web-based applications.
• Two years of psychiatric setting experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Observes and reports patients’ physical, emotional and social behaviors.
• Assists patients with personal care, vital signs, meals and transporting to activities.
• Teaches nonviolent crisis intervention techniques as directed by the nurse manager.
• Functions as the unit’s Legal Liaison.
