Job summary

Alabama Clinical Schools is a behavioral healthcare provider in the Birmingham area with over 20 years of experience. The Mental Health Associate will deliver direct care to residents, ensuring safety and well-being, using a therapeutic approach and assisting with daily activities and groups.

The 3rd shift runs Monday to Friday 11pm to 7:30am with rotating weekend hours 9pm-9:30am; eligible for a $3,000 sign-on bonus. Candidates must meet background and drug screening requirements.

Qualifications

  • Bachelors or Associates degree in psychology, social work, education, criminal justice, or other related mental health field preferred, but not required.
  • Detailed and organized with strong documentation skills Able to safely monitor residents and perform physical management techniques and crisis intervention.
  • Experience In a Residential Mental/behavioral Health Setting Strongly Preferred.
  • Must be 19 years or older, and be able to have a successful drug screen and background check (includes criminal history, Child Abuse and Neglect Registry, and ABI/FBI fingerprint check).

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct care to residents with psychiatric disorders and ensure safety on the unit.
  • Utilize a therapeutic approach to tasks including assistance with daily activities and facilitation of groups.
  • Perform duties as assigned by Group Leader, Assistant Group Leader, or Shift Supervisor.

Alabama Clinical Schools has been a behavioral healthcare provider in the Birmingham area for over 20 years. Our treatment services range from intensive residential treatment for males ages 9-18 to therapeutic foster care for males and females of all ages. Our RISE and Specialized Therapeutic Foster Care programs for boys are the only programs of their kind in the State of Alabama. Our mission is simple: to enrich lives of at-risk youth and their families by delivering quality behavioral and educational services while fostering a safe transition to the community.

The Mental Health Associate 3rd Shift

He/she provides direct care to residents with psychiatric disorders, to ensure their safety and well-being. MHA’s have the primary responsibility for ensuring the resident’s safety on the unit utilizing a therapeutic approach to all tasks including assistance with daily activities, facilitation of groups and other duties as assigned by Group Leader, Assistant Group Leader, or Shift Supervisor.

This position is for 3rd shift Monday to Friday 11pm to 7:30 am with a rotating weekend of 9pm to 9:30am Saturday and Sunday. If you work a weekend you are off two days the following week. This position is also eligible for a $3,000 Sign on Bonus.
