Job summary

Providence St Vincent Medical Center seeks a Mental Health Associate for a full-time day shift. Under the direct supervision of an RN, you will provide hospital-level patient care and contribute to milieu management for behavioral health patients on an inpatient unit.

You will observe patient conditions, report changes to the care team, and work with the treatment team to develop and implement care plans. This role requires empathy, teamwork, and adherence to safety standards in a busy setting.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in psychology, social sciences, social work, or related behavioral health field; 3 years in inpatient/outpatient/acute settings.
  • Equivalent 3 years experience in inpatient, psych outpatient, or acute settings.
  • National Provider BLS certification by American Heart Association.
  • 3 years of mixed education/experience as described above.

Responsibilities

  • Provide hospital-level and focused patient care under RN supervision.
  • Observe and report patient conditions to the care team and document changes.
  • Collaborate with the treatment team to develop and implement treatment plans.
  • Be sensitive to the needs of psychiatric inpatients and alert care leaders to changes in status.

Education

Bachelor's degree in psychology or related behavioral health field
Equivalent 3 years experience in inpatient/outpatient or acute settings
National Provider BLS - American Heart Association

Mental Health Associate full-time, day shift at Providence St Vincent Medical Center

The Associate-Mental Health (MHA) provides patient care under the direct supervision of the RN, with indirect supervision of mental health skills by an employed Mental Health Professional. Provides hospital level and focused patient care, support, and milieu management for patients with behavioral health conditions and illness. Under the direction of an RN, observes and reports on patient conditions, changes, and collaborates with treatment team in developing treatment plans. Is sensitive to needs of these patients and alerts care team leaders of a change in status of the patients on the inpatient psychiatric unit.

Required qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree Studies include, but, are not limited to: Psychology, Social Sciences, Social Work, or related to a behavioral health field. Also included are major studies in the medical field, including, but not limited to: Biology, Chemistry, Biochemistry, etc., or equivalent experience of 3-years in a mix of Residential Inpatient, Psych Outpatient, or any Acute Settings (does not need to be behavioral health)

  • Equivalent experience of 3-years in a mix of Residential Inpatient, Psych Outpatient, or any Acute Settings (does not need to be behavioral health)

  • Upon hire: National Provider BLS - American Heart Association

  • 3 years of either Bachelors Degree of 3-years of mixed experience (see above)

The successful candidate's placement on the wage range for this position will be determined based upon relevant job experience and other applicable factors. These amounts are the base pay range; additional compensation may be available for this role, such as shift differentials, standby/on-call, overtime, premiums, extra shift incentives, or bonus opportunities.
